The intention of these paintings is to remind one of the sadness of life, the longing and heartache that people have endured since the beginning of time. I have portrayed angst and melancholy with a soft touch rather than bleak black strokes of gloom, in an effort to affirm that absent interludes of soul-wrenching sorrow we would never know joy.
