The tranquility in the facial expressions of these Asian bodhisattvas and other beings is both mesmerizing and curious. They could be enlightened souls graced with an all-abiding wisdom for which there are no words. But then again, they could be world-weary people sleeping the years away, lazily dreaming their past and future lives, just like so many of us.
