The Unleashed Series
I was initially inspired to pour pots full of encaustic wax upon sheets of paper simply to see what would happen. Would the wax flow spontaneously and settle into a compelling image without interference from me? Would I be able to control its rapid movement from one end of the paper to the other? As it turned out, compromise was necessary; the wax and I had to reach a meeting of minds. Working in tandem with the wax’s natural flow, my hope was to produce sensuous shapes moving together, a richness of colors intertwined, and ultimately, a compelling interface of luscious, tactile paint with the chasteness of white paper.
